Barry L. Stein, MDCM is the director of the Center for Colon and Rectal Surgery at the McGill University Health Center. He holds the rank of Assistant Professor of Surgery and Oncology at McGill University.
His specialty interests include the endoscopic management of polyps, surgical treatment of colon and rectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. His practice includes the extensive use of laparoscopic techniques to treat these surgical diseases since 1992. His research interests include the multimodal management of rectal cancer, preoperative radiotherapy for rectal cancer in a watchful waiting program, Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS), Minimally Invasive Surgery, Prehabilitation in the deconditioned patient.
Dr. Stein is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, the American College of Surgeons and the American Board of Colon & Rectal Surgery.
